Lazy Thursday

October 7, 2005 at 3.05 pm

Last night was a free Thursday evening. This is a fairly novel thing for me, as I usually have MUGSS rehearsals on Thursday evenings during the student terms.

This being the first year since 1997/8 that I’ve not been in MUGSS, it’s a bit strange. Especially when you’re sitting at home and you know that a bunch of your mates are out drinking.

I didn’t get home until 8.30pm or so, having ferried Pete to Barrington Sports (in Knutsford) and back. Cooked up some dinner, did a mountain of ironing, and spent a rather chilled evening in the company of Housemate Andrew, drinking beer and watching music television.

VH2 pulled an absolute blinder by having a “Top Anthems, 1980-2005″ session, with a pretty decent song for each year. These included:

  • The Cure - Love Cats
  • New Order - Blue Monday
  • Guns ‘n’ Roses - Paradise City AND November Rain
  • Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
  • Radiohead - Creep
  • Oasis - Wonderwall
  • The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army
  • Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out
  • Kaiser Chiefs - I Predict a Riot

…and about 15 more, obviously. We didn’t change channel once!

The beers included:

More a gentle session than a night in getting hammered. Andrew and I discovered that we have VERY similar taste in music, which is always a bonus in a housemate.

In bed just after midnight, which counts as early. The MUGSS types would have been happily quaffing in BaaBar.

  1. I have read this post too many times now. Update!!

Having said that, I don’t *actually* think I’ve read much…

At least you know if you ever fancy a beer on a Thursday you can come find us. I’ll always appreciate your company!
