Mahinda’s Little World

Met up with Jill at Starbucks on Sunday, for “a chat”. Was pretty sure of the outcome before I left the house.

Yes, I went and got dumped again. The usual “I think you’re really nice, and love hanging out with you, and want to stay friends” stuff.

Weird. The only reason is, apparently, that (unbeknownst to me), Jill had only spilt up with her last bloke just before we started seeing each other. Apparently, he was a twat anyway, but that doesn’t stop her feeling a bit weird about things with me.

I mean, she could have told me back in June or something, but no, that’d be far too simple, straightforward and sensible. Instead, I’ve had to endure two full months of mixed messages, cancellations and general crapness, all from a girl with whom I really hit it off the first time we met (last September) and the second time as well (back in June).

Oh well. Plenty more fish in the sea. Of Jill’s housemates, I’ve already been dumped by one (years ago), and the other’s a bloke. I’m not going to go for the treble just yet.

It was the first time I’d ever been to a Starbucks/Costa/etc. that wasn’t actually in a train station or airport. I still can’t quite justify paying £2.85 for a (albeit pretty tasty) coffee, when there’s an excellent pub just across the road flogging decent ale for under £2 a pint.

She reckons it’s just a timing thing. Possibly. She’s a lovely girl.
