Drunken Post #2

People who cancel on you. Or say they’ll be there but opt out at the last moment. WHY?!

Okay, don’t get me wrong - I’m not exactly the most reliable or punctual of people, but when I say I’ll be somewhere, I’ll bloody well be there. If I’m going to be late, I’ll say so, by txt msg or something. In short, I’d need a jolly good excuse to cancel. Not “I’m tired” or “I just feel like staying in” or “but there’s something good on the telly”.

Likewise, if other plans change, and I end up somewhere else, I’ll say so. I won’t, for example, say “I’m on my way” and end up cancelling once someone’s waited expectantly for you for over an hour.

Grrrrr.

Everyone must know someone like that. The classic example, back at uni, was the friend (housemate or otherwise) who wouldn’t go to the pub “because I’ve got loads of work to do”. If you’ve got work to do, fair enough. BUT IF YOU END UP WATCHING TELEVISION ALL EVENING AND THEN WHINGING INCESSANTLY ABOUT YOUR IMMENSE WORKLOAD, YOU’RE JUST LYING. TO YOUR FRIENDS. And lying to your friends is DEFINITELY a BAD thing.

Anyway, that’s quite enough ranting. Today I played tennis with Natalie, Bethan and Rich. Good fun. As of yesterday, Nat’s mate Kirsty was going to join us. But she dropped out with a couple of hours to go, when Nat phoned up to ask if she wanted a lift. That left three of us, so it’s just as well that Natalie convinced Bethan, her housemate, to give it a go. Unfortunately, she could only stay for 40 minutes or so, so the rest of us played as a threesome for the rest of the session.

After tennis, it was meant to be a (rare) house outing to Solomon’s for a drink. Ended up just Janette, Linda and I from the house, plus Hash (Janette’s bloke) and Rich (who only turned up for one).

Oh well.

This is my first update in aaaages. I’ve got so much to write! I’ll try and fill in gradually, backdating stuff as appropriate.

  1. People who pull out at the last minute for no good reason are the MOST IRRITATING PEOPLE IN THE WORLD. I have to agree with you.
